Pumpkin Carve photos

The October Pumpkin Carve was at Lake Chelan State Park.  Since the Pumpkin carve was on October 25th, there will be no November meeting.  The next meeting will be the Christmas Party on December 5th at Gary and Debra Bowling’s house

The Pumpkin Carve was a success we had approximately 30 people including friends, family and members. 

The following members were present:

Gary, Debra, Jason, & Cameron Bowling, Travis Delp, Ed Knebel, Scott, Kathy & Karl Schulke, Joanne Williams, Doug & Suzii Steinbrech and Ben & Kim Weber.

Welcome New Members: Tim Moomaw and Bob Phillips.  Other potential members / divers: David Smeltzer, Mark Smeltzer and Matt Phillips. 

Several family members and friends were also there, it was a great time, the weather was clear and the fire was going to keep warm.  Children roasted marshmallows along with the adults.  Thanks everyone for bringing food to share.  Joanne provided Hotdogs and Chili, Debra tended to cooking hamburgers and hotdogs, also taking care of the food details.   The winners of the Pumpkin Carve were Matt Phillips; First Place, Scott Schulke; 2nd Place and 3rd Place James Laine.  Gift Certificates were awarded along with tank refill cards for all participants. 

Thanks everyone for a successful dive, see you at the Christmas Party December 5th or Christmas Dive December 6th.

The meeting was called to order by Secretary Debra Bowling @ 7:30 p.m. at God Fathers Pizza.

Roll Call - Attendees:

Old Business:

Current balance for checking is $342.05 and petty cash is $51.98.  $30.00 surplus from 3 tree dive. 

Announcements:

  • October 25th Pumpkin Carve at Lake Chelan State Park, meet at 12:00 and in the water by 1:00 p.m.
  • RULES: Bring your own pumpkin, dive knife only, no puncher in pumpkin before going into the water, no drawing on pumpkin, no taking anything off Christmas tree, you can use anything in the water for decoration.  Invite people to come.  Don’t forget to wear something warm to wear to change into.

    Hotdogs and chili will be provided, bring a potluck dish to share.  Cost will be $10.00 per person for members, non-members $15.00.

    • We will be conducting our regular scheduled meeting for the November WAD meeting on this date as well.
    • November 7th boat dive.  Divers Dream (Anacortes) $85.00 2 tank dive with lunch 10 people, sign up at the shop.
 

New Business:

University of Washington October 4th 60 ft. visibility at Bel Island, saw wolf eel @ 42 feet, lots of seals, 60 degrees clear and sunny but windy. 

December 5th Christmas Party at Gary and Debra’s, gift exchange limit $20.00 dollars.  BYOB and a Hors D’orves.  Start at 6:00 p.m. at 2050 10th St. NE, E. Wenatchee WA.  

December 6th Christmas tree decorating, no fee.  State Park at 12:00 p.m. in the water at 1:00 Travis & Ben will replace the old Christmas tree. 

Brad advised group on the recovery of the tanker truck that went off the bridge. The force of the crash separated the engine from the front end of the truck.  It was a long process for recovery of debris from the crash.

Monday September 7, 2009


The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:30 p.m. at God Fathers Pizza Buffet Dinner.

Roll Call - Attendees:

Gary, Debra, & Jason Bowling, Travis Delp, Van & Lucy Ford, Jim Lain and Rod Daut. New Member Mark Spurgeon.


Old Business:

DUI August 22-23, this was an opportunity to wear and try out gear for diving. 6 members attended, it was a great time, a few people went in the shark tank, and there were 270 sharks, stingrays and skate fish. Travis and Van both worked with about a 180 people the following day.

Members of the Dive Club moved Ben Webber into a different house. He is walking around without a walker and doing better. A thank you note was sent to the club from the Webbers.


Announcements:

  • September 11, 12, and 13th dive is full at Lake Chelan.

  • A motion was made by Travis Delp to meet at noon on October 25th for the Pumpkin Carving at Lake Chelan State Park, in the water by 1:00 p.m. This motion was 2nd by Van Ford, motion carried. Hotdogs and chili will be provided, bring a potluck dish to share. Cost will be $10.00 per person for members, non-members $15.00.

  • Ben Weber has been sick and as a result he has paralyzed his spinal cord. He is getting better and is starting to feel from the chest up.

  • Van Ford had a great dive @ the Jetty and saw an octopus and Ling Cod.

  • Money returned from the dive on August 2, 2009. $30.00 Fund for food

Monday July 6, 2009


The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 6:30 p.m.on Van & Lucy’s Barge, two other boats were tied to the Barge to commence the meeting. Gary & Debra Bowling’s and James Lain’s boats.

Minutes of June 1, 2009 were approved as mailed. Debra signed in members, as it was difficult to pass the sheet around in the boat. The signup sheet was given to Joanne Williams to add her information for contact and roll call.

Announcements:

  • Van announced that they were looking for divers at the Oregon Coast Marina on August 21, 22, and 23rd in accordance with (DUI) Diving Unlimited International. Housing is your responsibility. (10 Spots for sale) Tanks and regulators will be furnished.

  • Van announced divers for Phil’s boat this weekend July 11, Contact Van.

  • January 15, 2010 – Bonaire.

  • Rod Daut announced that he was at Three Tree 3 weeks ago and saw an octopus; it was a nice dive.


New Business:

New Dive class starting tomorrow (July 7, 2009)

Rod Daut observed and counted fish in Lake Chelan – Root Balls from trees. Anyone interested can contact Rod. It would be evening dives.

Thanks to Van and Lucy for a great ride on the Barge and entertainment from Jason Bowling and James Lain for Skiing even though it was cold and windy.

The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:35 p.m.

Gary read the minutes of April 6, 2009. Debra was absent on vacation to California visiting Son & Grandson.


Roll Call - Attendees:

Old Business:

Easter egg hunt was a great time for all. Tammy Rohman won the grand prize donated by Orca Scuba Center. She won a fin, mask and snorkel set. (Thanks Van & Lucy)


Announcements:

Travis Delp announced the following scheduled dives:

  • Sunday June 7 @ 8:00 a.m. boat leaves $85.00 per person; Skyline Marina @ Anacortes. Must pay in advance. Name won’t go on board until payment received.

  • May 2nd dive with Deep Sea Charters had 14 people on board. Travis & Doug made the dive.

  • Bonaire – Mid January 2010. (4) Confirmed spots thus far. Fee to be determined. This is about a two-week trip.

Monday April 6, 2009


A video of Disney World was shown by Travis Delp of his adventure in the Dive Tank at Disney world last month. Beautiful scenery and looked like a lot of fun.


The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:50 p.m.

Debra read the minutes of March 2, 2009. One correction was made under new business to show that no Morays in Bonaire, they have died. With no further corrections the minutes were approved.

Unfinished Business:

Camp Excursion at Lake Chelan. No date has been set. That will be discussed further at a later date.


Easter Egg dive will be at the State Park on April 19, meet at 12:00 p.m. and in the water by 1:00 p.m. The club will provide burgers and hotdogs. Everyone will need to bring a dish for a potluck. Travis & James will be hiding the Easter egg / golf balls for us to find.

Gary requested to meet with Travis Delp & Jim Lain following the meeting.

Announcements:

Rod Daut - Announced that his wife was doing an art show fundraiser for Pediatric Therapy on April 25th from 10:00 – 6:00 p.m. at 630 N. Chelan St. Wenatchee.


Travis Delp – Advised that the Deep Sea Charter will be going out on Saturday from Anacortes; the cost is $80.00 and you will need two tanks, they will fill tanks for you.


Van Ford – Announced that the Deep Sea Charter boat would be going out on May 2nd leaving at 8:00 a.m. This will be for Orca Dive Club.if you’re interested in booking; sign up with Van before April 25th.


We would like to welcome Jim Dorsey to Wenatchee Area Divers.

Monday March 2, 2009


The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:30 p.m.

Debra asked if everyone had reviewed the minutes of February 2 as emailed. Confirmation they had, there were not corrections and approved by all.


Roll Call - Attendees:

Gary & Debra Bowling, Jason Bowling, James Lain, Doug & Suzii Steinbrech, Mark & Tammy Rohman, Rod & Martha Daut, Van & Lucy Ford, Brad Hampton, Brian Kell, Keith Kell, and Jock Kinne.


Unfinished Business:

At the last meeting Travis Delp and James Lain had decided to be on a committee to set up the East Egg dive. Gary would also meet with them. The tentative dive date is set for April 19th. Committee will report more at the next meeting.


Also discussed at the last meeting was the Camp Excursion at Lake Chelan. No date has been set. That will be discussed further at a later date.


A shore dive at 3 Tree in Tacoma was discussed. Looking at possibly the 2nd weekend of April. Rod Daut and James Lain currently interested in the dive. Other locations also discussed but no dates set.


New Business:

Van announce that Travis Delp would be in the dive tank at Epcot center on Thursday @ 5:00 p.m. Also Bonaire was a great trip, they had good weather, it rained 2 days. They saw more seahorses, frogfish, green morays and barracudas. There was no diving off of the piers. Discussion followed on other diving destinations.


Announcements:

Van announced that he is planning for a Philippines Trip in 2010 if anyone is interested. Also May 24 or 25th Port Hardy trip, currently 3 spots open. $1045.00. This will be coldwater diving.


Brad Hampton had some pictures that he passed around, that he took with GPS equipment on Lake Chelan; (Old Car) and other destinations.


Last announcement Van was going diving Friday night March 6th and wanted to know if anyone wanted to join him. Let him know by Thursday to confirm.

The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:30 p.m.

Gary asked those present if they wanted to meet at God Fathers again next month. The group consensus was unanimous yes. Debra read the minutes of January 5, 2009.


Roll Call - Attendees:

Unfinished Business:

Travis and James would set a date for Easter Egg dive. After some discussion the group tentatively set April 19th for the dive. Lake Chelan State Park.


Dues were collected from several attending members. (If you haven’t yet paid your dues please do so for the good of the order)


New Business:

James suggested going up lake for camp-out and diving later this year. Members discussed bringing boats and water toys for the camp excursion. Further discussion to follow at upcoming meetings.


Rod Daut asked if there was interest for a Shore dive at 3 Tree by Sea-tac. There was some discussion and interest.


Announcements:

Mark and Tammy Rohman shared their experience diving in the Florida Keys. Rod Daut passed around some pictures of Key West and St. Thomas. Also check out Deep Sea Charters for boat dives at www.deepseacruise.com.


A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Jason 8:20 p.m., 2nd by Doug and all concurred.


For those who missed February’s meeting, God Fathers has a great buffet (Salad Bar, Dessert Pizza, Pizza Varieties by the slice and beverages all you can eat.

The meeting was called to order by President Gary Bowling @ 7:15 p.m.

A brief introduction was done to notify members present who Gary was and how he was voted in at the last meeting. He advised members present that he originally was a member of the club back in 1985. He introduced family members, and currently Debra Bowling as the Secretary/Treasurer.


Roll Call - Attendees:

Debra advised that a new sign in sheet would be passed around to members for verification or correction of information on name list and to also sign the back of the sheet. Those signed in were:

Gary & Debra Bowling, Jason & Camryn Bowling, Van & Lucy Ford, James Lain, Brian Kell, Brad Hampton, Doug & Suzii Steinbrech, Travis Delp and Bob & Julie Misasi..


Treasures Report:

As of January 5, 2009 two checks had been written for expenses for the Christmas Dive ($63.99) and New Years Dive ($45.67). Gary gave a treasury report.


Unfinished Business:

Gary reminded members that dues were due for the year; $30.00 for family or $20.00 for individual. Gary also advised that he would like to get the membership up if possible and would like to have dues from everyone even it they are not currently active.


James Lain reported on the New Years Dive, not many present, only two divers; Gary and James. James found a 10lb rigger and Gary ran low on air so returned after about 30 minutes.


New Business:

Forming Committees: Gary requested to have a couple members who would be willing to be on a committee for the Easter Egg Dive. James Lain and Travis Delp volunteered to be on the committee. The date and time of hunt is to be determined. The price for the dive will be $10.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members.


Web page: Debra advised members that announcements and minutes of meeting and other activities were being put on the web site by Mike Bonicksen through Van’s website at orcascubacenter.com (Please check out for updates and information)


Announcements:

Van / Bonaire – Has not gone yet but they will have a good time and will report back. Van will also confirm the date and time for the Dive Boat at Anacortes


Gary / God Fathers – Gary made a suggestion about trying a new place for our meeting, he checked into the cost at God Fathers and the fee is $7.69 for the Buffet which includes Salad Bar, Pizza, Pop and Dessert Pizza as well. Children are 65 cents per years of age. A motion was made by Julie Misasi to meet at God Fathers on February 2, @ 7:30 p.m., 2nd by James Lain and all concurred.


A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Van at 7:40 p.m., 2nd by Jason and all concurred.


A video presentation was presented by Bob Misasi of a Bali trip.

Thursday January 1, 2009

New Years Dive (At the Monument in Chelan)

Travis Delp was the first to arrive before anyone else and had the walkway shoveled down to the lake before Gary & Debra arrived. Gary brought the horse trailer for coverage not knowing what the weather would be like, which worked out great for a place to change and get out of the weather. The area was shoveled around the horse trailer and a fire made for warming. Debra, Travis and Camryn attended to the fire and cooking food. Provided was hotdogs and chili. Divers; James Laine and Gary Bowling were the only two that went in the water, Travis Delp had a mishap with his suit so was not able to go in. Divers present stayed in the water approximately 30 minutes, they discovered a 10 lb fishing weight of some sort. The weather was nice, the sun was shining, although the turnout was not what we expected we had a good time. Debra & Camryn Bowling took pictures.

Divers present put ornaments on a Christmas tree approximately 35’ below ground level. (Kim Webber took a group picture prior to the dive)

Drawing for gift:

Bill Worth won the drawing, ticket pulled out by his wife, luck of the draw.

He was given a mesh bag.

Monday December 1st, 2008


The meeting was called to order by President Van Ford @ 7:00 p.m.


Attendees:

Gary & Debra Bowling, Jason Bowling, Van & Lucy Ford, Ben & Spencer Webber, Rod Daut, James Lain, Brian Kell and Travis Delp.


Treasures Report:

As of November 24, 2008 Lucy reported balance showing $514.17 in checking.


1st Order of Business:

Van announced that he was giving up the position of being the President of the Club and would like someone to take it on. As of January 1, 2009 he would not be able to continue as president. He wanted to start the year out right and requested nominees to take this position. Gary Bowling was nominated for President and Debra Bowling as Secretary/Treasurer. All concurred.


Van also announced that the shop would be closed on Christmas Day and December 29, 30, 31, January 1, 2, and 3rd 2009. Will reopen January 5, 2009.


Up coming Dives:

Sunday December 7, 2009 we have scheduled the Christmas Tree Decorating. We will meet at the State Park at 12:00 p.m. (Everyone needs to bring an ornament to decorate the tree). Lucy asked what kind of food members wanted: Those present requested; chili, hot-dogs, cocoa, and Lucy was bringing cupcakes. (Also firewood is needed for the bon fire)


Bonaire is scheduled for January 30 – February 14, 2009.


Member Excursion:

Rod Daut shared his dive at Bali and said he saw Rat Fish, Flounder and Sea Anemones. He also came upon a wolf eel almost taking his finger off. He enjoyed his trip and said he would bring a computer slide show to the next regular meeting. He also advised that the Edmonds oil dock was being torn down.


Christmas Party:

Members present talked about having a Christmas Party, James Lain has offered his house for the party. The address is 1243 Downs Rd (Lower Sunny Slope Road off 2/97) Bring a gift $10.00 - $15.00. Also bring a dish for sharing. The date is December 20th at 7:00 p.m.


No further business the meeting was adjourned.
